Employment in Korea for Family Members of Foreign Diplomatic Officials Holding A-2 (Official) Status * Conditions for Employment Eligibility Permission to engage in activities outside the granted visa status is possible only if recommended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Diplomatic Mission Affairs Officer) based on reciprocity. If employment can be confirmed by business registration and employment contract, documents related to company qualifications, education, work experience, or criminal records are not required. 2. | Permission to Extend Stay Period | A holder of the public official (A-2) visa who entered Korea for short-term official duties rather than for assignment purposes and wishes to stay longer than 90 days must leave the country and obtain a long-term visa before re-entering. However, exceptions allowing a change to long-term stay status or extension of stay period may be permitted based on agreements with the Republic of Korea or principles of reciprocity. |

For holders of single-entry visas from diplomatic (A-1) to agreement (A-3) status who wish to re-enter within their term of assignment (period of official duties, duration of status, or agreement-based stay period), re-entry permits can be granted upon request. ※ If the person holds a valid multiple-entry visa during their assignment period, re-entry permits are not required. Single or multiple re-entry permits can be issued within the domestic assignment period (multiple re-entries also possible via airports).
