Labor Law Q&A details

Chapter 3 Working hours, Recess, Off-Days and Leave

Family Event Holidays

My child will soon marry. In such cases, are there any vacations or allowances that employees can receive as compensation under Korean labor law?
Under Korean Labor Law, there is no mandatory vacation or allowance for the marriage of a child. However, even though such leave is not legally required, some companies provide internal regulations in their employment or other rules for workers to receive time off or congratulations (or condolence) money for such events as the marriage of your child. Such employment rules and regulations are legally binding and must be followed by the company, so look at the rules of employment and see if they mention any benefits for when a worker’s child marries.
